The Worst Foundation Ever?

Having oily skin can mean that it can be difficult to find a really great base product, but having heard great things about the Georgio Armarni Power Fabric foundation, I decided to give it a go.

The foundation claims to team long-wear and full coverage with a luminous, lightweight second skin finish. I would agree that it is indeed lightweight on the skin, but it was more of a medium coverage and wasn’t very luminous on me. It looked like more of a classic matte foundation.

As for the claim of being long wearing? Not really. I chose to wear this without a primer (true test!) all day for work. By lunch time it had faded/wore off significantly and I noticed dry patches of skin which I didn’t even know I had! I have very oily skin, so the fact that it’s highlighting dry patches says something. Further to that disappointment, I found it doesn’t layer well with other products; I added concealer to my under eye area and by lunch time it was all but flaking off – I normally don’t have dry under eyes; they are usually the oiliest part of my face!

On a positive note, however, the shade (02) is a perfect match for me (if you’re a pale girl, you know how rare this can be!); they also seem to have a good shade range from the palest of pale through to dark skin tones.

Of course, I will be testing this out further, perhaps with a hydrating primer or with more moisturiser underneath. If you have any suggestions I’m all ears – this stuff is expensive and I’m not willing to give it away just yet!

    1. I’ve been playing around with it since posting this. It’s much better applied with a wet beauty sponge. I’d just say avoid if you have normal to dry skin though!
