April 2017 High-Street Haul

I’ve been struggling for blog post ideas lately, so I’m back with a good old-fashioned beauty haul from the high-street. I didn’t buy all of these products on the same day, and I have slightly cheated a little, but I thought you might all like to see what I’ve picked up recently.

First up; my cheat product. I’m well aware that Benefit aren’t a “drugstore” brand, but they are on the high-street. I picked this up in Boots a couple of weeks ago after the counter assistant roped me into trying the new Galifornia blush there and then and after seeing it on I just couldn’t leave without it. It is a gorgeous, perfect for summer bright coral pink with a hint of a gold sheen running through it. This colour looks amazing on my super-pale skin, but I can imagine it working for almost anyone, particularly people with a tan!

Again, this brand isn’t a typical “drugstore” brand but it is quickly making its way onto every high-street in the UK. This is Kiko’s Summer 2.0 liquid eyeshadow in 02 Fire Lust Bronze. This shade is very much a rose gold/copper tone with a golden shimmer running through it. It applies very evenly, is easy to blend and sets down to not budge for hours.

On the theme of liquid/cream eyeshadows, I went back to an old classic – the Maybelline Colour Tattoo, this time in the shade Creme de Rose. This is a cool toned pink/taupe and is perfect for a no makeup makeup look or for days when you want a wash of colour but don’t want to go all out. It would also work amazingly as a base/primer.

Now, onto lipsticks; I picked up an Essence lipstick (07) when I was in Wilko a couple of weeks ago. Whilst it’s not the most summery of colours (very berry!), i love it for a toned down wash of colour on the lips. I also finally gave in to try a Maybelline matte lipstick. This one is Smokey Rose 978 and is a great everyday colour. Not quite a nude, not quite a bold; it has red/brown tones to it – a kind of muted terracotta.
