The Date Night Edit

I might have just missed Valentine’s Day with this post, but I wanted to give you all a round-up of what I think are really great products for date night.

I believe that a date night look should be light on the base; this one by NARS gives a medium coverage in a satin finish. You won’t need to worry about touch ups all night! The Collection concealer is quite high coverage; use this to conceal any problem areas, rather than using a super-high coverage base.

This setting powder by Bare Minerals is very finely milled. It will do a great job of setting your base so that you don’t have to worry about oily-ness on your date.

I got this Benefit blusher set a couple of years ago, but all of the shades are still available individually. Coralista (bottom right) gives a lovely peachy glow to the cheeks and warms the skin up without the use of bronzer.

ABH Brow Wiz is a classic brow product but paired with Gimmie Brow, it gives a natural finish which won’t budge all night. The Kiko Cream Shadow provides a base for your shadow to stick to; these pinky-toned shadows from MUR are a perfect match for a romantic date night. Good at liner? Add a wing with L’Oreal’s Super Liner.

If your date is a romantic meal or drinks, opt for a matte or satin finish to ensure your lipstick lasts. Nobody want’s to worry about touch ups on a date. MAC Mehr and Colourpop Lumiere are actually very similar (if you’re in the UK and can’t get a hold of Colourpop, check Mehr out!), they’re a mid toned pinky mauve. November is a satin finish liquid lipstick in a classic pink/nude.

  1. This is a really helpful post for tips on how to look your best on date night. I’m not a huge makeup wearer, but I have rubbish skin so I could do with trying out more brands of concealer! Thanks for the recommendation! This is also a good post in that it goes about Valentine’s day in a different way – usually, you’d see posts on what gifts to get for your s/o, so this was a refreshing read. Thanks for the share!
