2016 Beauty Favourites

So here we are; Christmas is over and we’re almost ready to ring in 2017 with drinks, cheese and Pringles galore. But before that happens, check out some of my most loved make up products of 2016.

Let start with palettes. I’ve recently written about my favourite eyeshadow palettes, so I’m not going to go into detail about those but this highlighting palette from Makeup Revolution is phenomenal! The formula is fantastic for the price point and with the amount of colours on offer, you can’t go wrong!

This is the Benefit blush palette which I got for Christmas last year; it was (and is still?) available again this year in different packaging. It is such incredible value for money at around £30; just one full sized Benefit boxed blusher is around £23! You also get the classic shades Hoola, Dandilion and Coralista, along with my favourite Rockateur.

I got this deluxue sample with a Becca set earlier in the year. This is Flowerchild and is the most perfect satin finish blusher you’ll ever come across. It works amazingly to perk up pale skin without bronzer and leaves a beautiful subtle glow.

My favourite bases from this year are the NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint and BareMinerals’ Complexion Rescue. Whilst these are very different bases, at the extremes of finishes, they both work really well for my oily-combination skin. Also, they’re the only colours i’ve ever found which match me perfectly!

More bases I’ve been loving is the NYX Mineral Stick Foundation in 02 Porcelain, Kiko’s Full Coverage Concealer and my newest purchase, NYX’s HD Translucent Powder. The NYX stick foundation is incredible; it blends effortlessly and makes my skin look great. Kiko’s concealer is indeed very full coverage and is actually pale enough for me to use all over my face! As for the setting powder, this is the best I’ve ever owned.

On to more eye products! NARS Kalahari is my absolute favourite eyeshadow of the year; the colours are gorgeous and the formula is faultless. My favourite mascaras this year are the Clinique High Impact mascara and Kiko’s Volume Attraction Mascara. I’ve been on the hunt for a Clinique dupe all year and I’m excited to say I’ve finally found one in Kiko! Hallelujah! I also made my first (and last?) order from Colourpop earlier in the year and picked up Kathleen Light’s Mr. Bing Gel Liner. The colour is amazing!

Also, quick shout out to Benefit Gimme Brow; so good I have it in two shades! Number 1 is slightly too light for me, and unfortunately number 3 is slightly too dark. I think I’ll get shade 2 next time!

[Top to bottom: MAC Faux, MAC Syrup, Clinique Melon Pop, L’Oreal Julianne’s Nude]

Finally, I have my favourite lipsticks of the year; two from MAC, one from Clinique and a final one from L’Oreal. MAC Faux is a satin finish and is a pink/brown nude. This is the kind of shade you can throw on everyday and not have to worry about it. MAC Syrup is a lustre finish and is a light berry shade, probably my absolute favourite! Clinique’s Melon Pop is a satin-like finish but on the sheerer side, and as you can see above it’s a peachy nude. Finally, Julianne’s Nude is a classic pink nude, perfect for pale skin and has a very creamy texture. The finish is beautiful but it’s the kind of lipstick you have to keep re-applying all day.

Well, that’s it for this year guys! I hope you all have a great new year and I’ll look forward to seeing you all then!

  1. I really like makeup revolution palettes, cheap & good 🙂 definitely worth the money 🙂

  2. I feel like such a failure as a woman as there are so many popular brands that I’ve never tried…MAC, MYX and Nars to name but a few. Some of these products look amazing though, so I may have to do a little shopping with my Christmas money.

  3. Hello just wanted to give you a quick heads up. The words in your post
seem to be running off the screen in Internet explorer.
I’m not sure if this is a formatting issue
or something to do with browser compatibility but I thought I’d post to let you
know. The layout look great though! Hope you get the issue resolved soon. Many thanks

  4. Aw, this was a very good post. Spending some time and actual effort to create a good article… but what can I
say… I put things off a whole lot and don’t manage to get nearly anything done.
