Having not written a favourites post for a few months, I think that I finally have enough products to talk about to warrant an entire favourites post. In the future, I’m going to run my favourites seasonally, like this, so that I actually have enough time to find, try, and review new and great products!
First up; base products. I was pleasantly surprised by Primark’s PS Beauty Stay All Day Primer. This little gem only costs £3.00 and actually works. I’m not one to use primer on a daily basis so I actually noticed the effect that this product has. I tend to use it on days where I know I will be out all day, and this helps to keep my base products around hours longer than usual.
I picked up The Body Shop’s Tea Tree BB Cream in their autumn sale and have used it almost every day I’ve worn makeup since. The shade is ideal for my super pale skin and gives enough coverage for everyday without feeling heavy on the skin.
I’ve been using NYX’s HD Concealer in Porcelain almost everyday for the past couple of months. This shade is perfect for me and the formula provides enough coverage to hide my blemishes, even without foundation. It can, however, be a little drying so I wouldn’t recommend using it under the eyes, but for blemishes it works well!
For powder, I’ve gone back to an old favourite; Bourjois Rice Powder. This is a brilliant powder and is severely underrated in the blogging community. It sets makeup as well as any powder but feels light on the face and never gets cakey. There’s a subtle shimmer to the powder which gives a healthy glow to the face without making you look like a glitterbomb.
I’ve never been a lover of highlighter; it always tends to highlight the things I’m trying to hide. This one from Maybelline, however, gives a subtle glow without exaggerating blemishes and imperfections.
I’ve found a few great eye products over the past few months. NARS, Make Up Forever, Kiko and Colourpop have some great eyeshadows which I’ve been loving this autumn. I bought NARS Duo Eyeshadow in Kalahari over the summer but only really began to wear in over the past few weeks. The shades are ideal for this time of year and the formula is faultless; well worth the hefty price tag! Similarly, Colourpop’s Supershock Eyeshadow in Weenie is a great autumn colour, well worth the hassle of shipping to the UK!
Kiko Milano have become famous for their Water Eyeshadow; I got the shade 228 Taupe a couple of months ago and absolutely love it! As the name suggests, you can use this product wet and dry, wet for a more intense look. I tend to use it for a light of colour during the daytime though.
Finally, I picked up this Make Up Forever eyeshadow in TK Maxx a couple of weeks ago and instantly fell in love with the colour. It’s a perfect cool toned taupey brown. I’ve pretty much worn this everyday since I bought it.
Lastly for eyes is mascara and eyeliner; I found this Essence mascara in Wilko a few weeks and and haven’t looked back since. It does everything I want a mascara to do; lengthen, define and separate.
I’ve been working on my liquid eyeliner over the past few months and this gem from L’Oreal has been a great help. I have it in the brown shade so it’s not too harsh on my pale skin. The nib is ideal for a novice like me; thin and slightly flexible. Give it a go if you’re struggling to get the hang of liner!
Finally, for lips, this Smart Lipstick by Kiko Milano in the shade 915 is the perfect autumn colour for me. I’m not one for dark vampy shades and this is sheer enough that I’m comfortable wearing a berry lip!
