Okay, so now’s that time of year where we all begin to talk about how fast time is flying, and how we can’t believe it’s September already! For those of you who need to hang on to the warm-ish summer months, here’s my August favourites.
This mini Becca Shimmering Skin Perfecter in Moonstone is a little gem! The fact that it comes with a wand applicator instead of the usual pump makes it so easy to apply, and means you don’t end up wasting product if you pump out too much. The colour is perfect for paler complexions and leaves a subtle highlight across the cheekbones.
I recently reviewed these Morphe brushes in detail so I’ll be brief here; it’s such a great value set with with everything you need to create a full face of make up. Although not as soft as some more expensive, high profile brushes, they’re ideal for anyone who needs a few more brushes in their collection but doesn’t want to pay a small fortune for them.
I haven’t stopped using this bronzer since I bought it. It’s ideal as an everyday bronzer with a hint of shimmer and and a subtle blush topper. Thankfully, the pigment isn’t too strong which means I cant go overboard with it trying to make myself look less pale than I am.
I originally got this L’Occitane hand cream in an issue of Marie Claire a few years ago, and then again the following year. Although expensive for a hand cream it’s so worth the money. This one is rose scented (but doesn’t remind you of Grandma!) which lingers for hours and leaves your hands feeling all soft and delicate again.
Next up are two eye products; Kiko’s Long Lasting Eyeshadow, a cream eyeshadow stick similar to the Charlotte Tilbury and ByTerry ones; and Benefit’s Gimmie Brow. I have the shade Golden Beige in the Long Lasting Eyeshadow which is a great everyday colour. It’s ideal as a base for powder eyeshadows but works brilliantly alone. I have the shade 01 Light in the Gimmie Brow which is perfect for my very light brows. I actually like to use this alone, rather than just setting my brows with it; it leaves a much more natural look.
My final make up favourite this month is a foundation from The Body Shop. The Fresh Nude Foundation is a medium coverage, semi-matte foundation and comes in a large range of shades to suit all skin tones. I have the shade 012 Bora Bora Tiare which is a perfect match for my skin tone. I love the effect of this foundation on my skin, it’s similar to L’Oreal’s True Match foundation, but the fact that this has a semi-matte finish leaves my skin looking matte but not cakey or overdone.
My last favourite this month is L’Oreal’s new clay mask. I have the green one which helps with purifying the skin, similar to what a charcoal or tea tree mask would do. My skin always looks brighter after using this and surprisingly soft. I’ve recently bought The Body Shop’s new Himalayan Charcoal mask, though, and I think this may eclipse L’Oreal in next month’s favourites!
